Affordable housing meeting Sept. 16

SALISBURY — There will be an informational meeting about possible affordable housing ordinances at Town Hall Thursday, Sept. 16, 7:30 p.m.

Selectman Jim Dresser, who represents the selectmen on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, said it was time to act on the committee’s report, which was presented to the town in June.

The ordinances to be discussed: first, to adopt something similar to the law in Sharon making it easier for landowners to donate property for affordable housing, and second, one establishing a permanent appointed commission for affordable housing as well as a fund.

Dresser said the meeting would be open to any questions about the report, which is available on the town’s website and at Town Hall.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
