Linda K. Turner

WINSTED — Linda K. Turner, 56, of Holabird Avenue died May 2, 2010, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, following a long illness.

Born at Camp Kilmer, N.J., June 13, 1953, she was a daughter of Kathleen (Boutote) Turner of Wallingford and the late James Turner Sr. She had lived in Winsted for the past 23 years.

Prior to her illness, she had worked for the Connecticut Junior Republic in Litchfield. She was a graduate of Lewis Mills Regional High School and received her associate degree from Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Brenda Frantzis of Wallingford; nieces and nephews April and Michael Feola and their child, Michael Jr., and Todd and Lisa Piascik and their children, Derrick and Adrianna; and with many friends, co-workers and neighbors.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Maloney Funeral Home, Winsted. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Water main cleaning in North Canaan

Tuning up two passions under one roof

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

Blues legend Robert Cray will be bringing his stinging, funky guitar and soulful singing to Infinity Hall Norfolk on Friday, March 29.
