James W. Anderson

North Canaan — James W. Anderson, 51, of East Main Street, formerly of Sharon, died at Yale New Haven Hospital on Feb. 9, 2010. He was the husband of Roberta (Morrill) Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was born March 11, 1958, in Sharon, the son of Madeline (McKee) Anderson of Sharon and the late Merle Anderson.

He was a 1976 graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School. He received his degree from the University of Massachusetts in the turf and grass science program. He worked at the Sharon Country Club, Community Fuel and Up Country. He worked for the Kent School for 24 years in operations. He was a longtime member of the Sharon Fire Department.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Anderson is survived by two daughters, Courtney and Chelsea; two brothers, Merle and Robert Anderson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held at the Sharon Congregational Church Feb. 13. All other services are private. The Kenny Funeral Home, Sharon, has care of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
