Learning the newspaper trade

The future is editorial: a group of entrepreneurial-minded young women visited The Lakeville Journal and designed their own publications on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Photo by Janet Manko

The Lakeville Journal was visited on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, by six young Salisbury and Kent members of the Girls Rock after-school group and group leader Lenore Mallett. The young women have been visiting businesses to see what kinds of careers women have chosen in the Northwest Corner. After they took a tour of the newspaper’s office on Route 7 in Falls Village, they all worked on producing their own small newspapers.

The next day, they visited Freund’s Farm in East Canaan.
