Miles Davis, who died in September 1991, was one of the most influential musical performers and innovators of the 20th century. From the 1940s through the 1990s, he played trumpet and flugelhorn, leading bands, joining with other jazz greats from each era — Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea and many others.
