Winsted resident publishes e-book: ‘A Father’s Love’

WINSTED — Before deciding to publish his own e-book, Peter Cianciolo noticed there were plenty of books about mothers, families and practically everything else, yet no real books about fathers and the love they have for their families.Hence the release of “A Father’s Love,” a children’s e-book based on a poem he wrote 11 years ago.“My poem won an award from the Famous Poets Society, and I never thought about making it into a book,” Cianciolo said. “That was until my friend Doug McDonald read it and said that it read like a children’s book. He liked it so much that he did the illustrations for it.”The children’s book explores the duties, the jobs and the happiness brought on by fatherhood.Cianciolo said he has been interested in writing since he was in high school.“I’ve always fooled around with it,” he said. “The poem was an easy thing to write and it didn’t take long to put it down. The words started to fit together as I thought about my kids and my love for them. It just all fell into place.”Cianciolo works at All Pointe Care, which originates out of Waterbury, as a mentor and transporter for children who are in the state’s Department of Children and Families programs. He has two sons, Nicholas and Spencer, who were both very young when he wrote the original poem.“The whole book is directly inspired by the love for my kids,” he said. “It’s very heartfelt and makes a great Father’s Day present.”The book costs 99 cents and is available through Amazon’s Kindle store. It can be found online at www.amazon.com/A-Fathers-Love-ebook/dp/B006X9A11K.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
