Hike to end at Falls Village Inn

SALISBURY/FALLS VILLAGE — Peter Becks Village Store in Salisbury and the Falls Village Inn are teaming up Saturday, Jan. 21, for a Salisbury-to-Falls Village hike, with a meal at the inn at the conclusion.The group will meet at Peter Becks, 19 Main St. in Salisbury, at 10:30 a.m. for the hike, which will go past the ski jumps and join the Appalachian Trail. The guided hike is of moderate difficulty, Peter Feen of Peter Becks said, and hikers may set their own pace.At the midway point, along Rand’s View, the hikers will be met with hot drinks and a snack before continuing. Awaiting the participants at the Falls Village Inn will be a hearty spread.Arrangements have been made with Lakeville Taxi to ferry hikers back to Salisbury if necessary. Taxi rides are not included in the $25 for adults ($15 for children) fee for the hike and meals.Feen asked that interested hikers make reservations by calling Peter Becks at 860-596-4217 or the Falls Village Inn at 860-824-0033 so the organizers will know what they need by way of food.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
