What America means, celebrated at Flag Day

NORTH CANAAN — Flag Day was celebrated across the nation on  Friday, June 14 — the date that is also the anniversary of the founding of the United States Army in 1775, 244 years ago.

The members and friends of Couch Pipa VFW Post in North Canaan chose to honor the day with a combination of joyous celebration and solemn ceremony.  

Starting at 6 p.m., the VFW Auxiliary members cooked up and served hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks served from the bar in the pavilion. After dinner, Las Vegas-based blues musician Chris Tofield performed.
