James Joseph Victory

NORTH CANAAN — James Joseph Victory, 69, of North Canaan and Port St. Joe, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Feb. 14, 2019, surrounded by family. 

He was born April 16, 1949, to the late James Victory Sr. and Gina Segalla Victory. He was raised in North Canaan alongside his younger brother and best friend, Stephen Victory.

James graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1968. He also attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College and the Computer Processing Institute. 

James was an entrepreneur from an early age. His spontaneity, along with his passion for sales, led him to travel, meet new people, and embark on many adventures. James was full of energy and had a positive outlook on every aspect of life. His greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. From hockey to baseball to school plays, he was their number one fan! James brought joy and laughter to so many. He made an impact on countless lives and will be dearly missed.  

James is survived by his wife of 29 years, Melissa Victory; children Amanda Victory Richard, Justin Victory, Matthew Wheeler, Hope Mazzeo and Sara Wheeler; and grandchildren: Nicholas O’Neil, Justin Victory Jr., Rivers Richard, Abigail Victory and Stella Richard; Gabriella, Thomas, and Elizabeth Mazzeo; Violet Baker, Charles Jones, Rion Farmer, Isabelle Hendricks; and great-grandchildren Damien and Killian. He is also survived by his brother Stephen Victory, his nieces, Darcy and Kaitlyn, as well as many cousins and friends.

A Mass will be held today, Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan. Reception to follow at The Bitterman Center.
