Mapping out a new town archive

FALLS VILLAGE — “Welcome to the basement!”

That was Town Clerk Mary Palmer’s greeting at Town Hall Monday afternoon, Feb. 11. She was referring to the maps that were piled on every available surface.

In 2018, Palmer applied for a grant of $4,500 to digitize old maps that had accumulated in the Falls Village Town Hall basement over the decades.

The grant money arrived, and now she is busy sorting through them, prior to the arrival of the company that is going to do the work.
