Why and wherefore on voting

The vote across the United States in November will be a watershed moment beyond the normal. 

• It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is, if you have one.

• It doesn’t matter if you like or dislike incumbent candidates.

• It doesn’t matter if you are old or young.

• It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor.

What will happen in November is that people will decide if the current political status quo and incumbents are leading indicators or lagging indicators of our country. The vital assessment of our nation is that the current people in charge are either lagging indicators or leading indicators of the nation:

• Of who we are when seen from a global perspective, that we’re concerned only for an American ideal tainted away from common humanity

• Of who we are when it comes to a livable planet and sustainable environment and that we’re environmentally unconcerned for future life on this planet

• Of who we are as a racially biased populace 

• Of who we are as fiscally unsound when it comes to wages and Federal deficit to disproportionately advantage only the wealthiest, and

• Of who we are—no longer seen as beacons and defenders of freedom and democracy—disregarding the growing dangers of authoritarianism and autocracies.

If the current leaders are leading indicators and their hold on power is enhanced in November, then many Americans may well come to realize that the country is no longer the shining city on the hill nor a country recognizable by our founders or past presidents. America, for many, will be a dream of the past.

If the the current leaders are only lagging indicators of what America momentarily was—then if they lose their grip on the helm of the nation in November, it is worth engaging anew, battling for real American ideals, reinforcing democracy, and upholding the rights of every citizen as equals.

That is why the elections in November are so crucial. Every position being voted on, every person being voted for, the very balance of power and influence in your state or in Washington, D.C., is in play... either you want a nation built on original American ideals or you want a nation clearly defined by the ideals of the current government. 

If the current government is truly a leading indicator of a new autocratic, biased, America, many citizens will not want to stay. If the current leaders are only lagging indicators, their harm can be swept away and true American values can be restored—remedied to the standard of the original Constitution:  We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States.
