By resolution dated September 17, 2018, the Amenia Fire District has approved a resolution, subject to permissive referendum, to utilize reserve funds to purchase a Chief’s vehicle in the amount of up to $75,000.00, utilizing funds from the Capital Reserve Fund. Any person desiring a mandatory vote on the issue must file a properly executed and sufficient petition within thirty days of the date of publication of this notice.

2019 BUDGET

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Proposed Budget of the Amenia Fire District #1 of the Town of Amenia, State of New York will be presented to the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Amenia Fire District, for its consideration.

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Amenia Firehouse, 36B Mechanic Street, New York 12501, in the Town of Amenia, State of New York on the 16th day of October, 2018.

Pursuant to Town Law 181.3(a), the Board of Fire Commissioners must hold a public hearing on the budget; make the proposed budget available to the public prior to the public hearing, allowing the public to comment on the budget at the public hearing. This public hearing must be held to allow maximum public participation in the hearing.

The purpose of the public hearing is to allow any person to be heard in favor of or against the proposed budget as it is submitted, or for or against any item or items contained in the proposed budget, and hearing all persons interested in the subject concerning the same.

That a copy of the proposed budget is available at the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of Amenia 4988 Route 22 where it may be inspected by any interested person during office hours.

 Please take notice that there will be an informational Public Hearing on the current and future state of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in northeastern Dutchess County. The public hearing will be held on October 24,2018 at 7:00 pm at the Amenia Town Hall (4988 Route 22, Amenia, NY). This hearing is jointly sponsored by the Towns of Amenia, Dover and North East and the Village of Millerton. All members of the public having interest in this matter are invited to attend.

Town Board of the Town of Amenia schedules a Special Meeting on the 24th day of October 2018 at 7:00PM at the Town Hall located at 4988 Route 22, Amenia, New York 12501 for the purpose of a Public Hearing for the matter of introducing the results of the ambulance services feasibility study and to address any questions or concerns with respect to the results of said study between the Towns of Amenia, Dover and North East, and the Village of Millerton completed through the awarded funds of the 2017 Dutchess County Municipal Innovation Grant (MIG) program that evaluated the current operations and makes recommendations relative to contracting out separately for ambulance services versus joining forces to collaborate on a regional delivery of service.

The resolution, a summary of which is published herewith, has been adopted on the 27th day of August, 2018, and the validity of the obligations authorized by such Resolution may be hereafter contested only if such obligations were authorized for an object or purpose for which the Village of Millerton is not authorized to expend money or if the provisions of law which should have been complied with as of the date of publication of this notice were not substantially complied with, and an action, suit or proceeding contesting such validity is commenced within 20 days after the date of publication of this notice, or such obligations were authorized in violation of the provisions of the Constitution.

Summary of Resolution: A resolution adopted by the Village of Millerton Board of Trustees on August 27, 2018, authorizing the issuance of Serial Bonds of the Village of Millerton in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $1,094,000 to finance water system improvements in the Village of Millerton, and delegating certain powers in connection therewith to the Village Treasurer and providing that such Resolution shall be subject to Permissive Referendum. The period of probable usefulness of said purpose is 40 years. The period of time has elapsed for the submission and filing of a petition for a permissive referendum and a valid petition has not been submitted and filed. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Amenia will conduct a PUBLIC HEARING on the 1st day of November, 2018, at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall, Town of Amenia, 4988 Route 22, Amenia, New York 12501, at which time all parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard as to whether the Town Board of the Town of Amenia shall adopt Local Law No. X of the Year 2018, Town of Amenia Municipal Water Law.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the purpose and intent of the proposed Local Law is to establish rules and regulations governing the installation of water mains, service connections, service lines, and other equipment, fixtures, and appurtenances in the Town Water District, and any extensions thereof, and concerning other matters of the public water supply in the Town of Amenia so as to promote the safety, health, protection, and general welfare of persons and/or property in the Town and to promote the exercise of due care and diligence in the operation and maintenance of the public water supply system in the Town to insure compliance with the requirements of the New York Department of Health State Sanitary Code, any requirements of the Dutchess County Department of Health, and the requirements of any other governmental entity having jurisdiction over such matters with respect to drinking water supplies and public water systems, and to prevent pollution and depletion of such water supplies and systems.
