Mary (Caccomo) Riva

NORTH CANAAN — Mary (Caccomo) Riva, 91, died peacefully on Aug. 31, 2018, at her home.  She was born in Middletown, Conn., on Nov. 18, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Mary (Didato) and Frank Caccomo.

Mary was employed at Becton Dickinson before retiring in 1986. 

After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, baking and spending time with family.  She also enjoyed her time as a “snowbird” in sunny Venice, Fla., for over 20 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Blanchette of Marco Island, Fla., and Linda Marsh of North Canaan; her sons-in-law, Thomas Blanchette of Marco Island and Paul Amenta of Winsted; her sister, Nancy Scarpelli of Florida; five grandchildren, Kevin Marsh, Wendy Senneville, Tracy Marsh, James Amenta and Brian Amenta; and  four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ian Crowell and Kira and Kalin Marsh.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1989; and her daughter Carol Amenta in 2015.

Calling hours will be held at the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.  A Mass  of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
