KENT — South Kent School announced last week that Head of School Andrew J. Vadnais is leaving after 20 years at the all-male boarding school for grades nine to 12.

His last day was Aug. 27. A press release from the school said he will take a sabbatical for the 2018-19 academic year.

Lawrence A. Smith, a faculty child and a graduate in the class of 1973, will serve as interim head of school.

Smith was a South Kent faculty member from 1978 to 1987, as well as a coach, director of admissions and dean of students.
