Proposed solar site at landfill advances a step

NORTH CANAAN — A proposal for a solar energy installation at the town’s transfer station moved a step ahead as the selectmen voted at their Monday, Aug. 13, meeting to allow the developer to prepare a Request for Proposals.

Paul Michaud, an attorney with the Michaud Law Group in Middletown, Conn., explained that the town can at any point decide against proceeding with the solar energy idea. Benefits to the town can include putting the site to use as a clean energy production point, reducing energy costs by 30 to 50 percent for town buildings.
