In appreciation: Gary Thornton

My brother, Gary.

My brother was a very special person. He had a warm and gentle nature about him and a kind soul. I will always remember his laugh. You knew when he was in the room when you heard his laugh.

He loved NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt. He was a dog lover and got great joy and comfort from his valued companions.

He loved his home and took great pride and joy from it. He loved cooking and relaxing on his backyard deck, which had a view that just made one take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the simple joys of life.

He loved his four older brothers and enjoyed hanging out with them and listening to all their stories, which we all know he heard over and over again and yet he still listened and laughed when he heard them.

He was especially close to our mother, who raised him and was always there for him.

He was also very close with my brothers, Charlie and Scott, who lived here with him. As Gary did with my mom, he had a very special bond with them, especially with Scott.

I know he is now in a place where all his pains are gone. He is with our father, getting to know him as he didn’t have the chance to do during his time with us. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed.

Rest in peace, brother, and watch over us.

We love you.

Your brother, David
