Racer finds rest, relaxation in Sharon

LIME ROCK — Lee Carpentier’s journey to becoming a professional race car driver is even curvier than the courses he navigates in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. 

Born and raised in Long Island, N.Y., Carpentier worked as a car mechanic until his early 20s and never really considered racing.

“We didn’t grow up in a racing community; it just randomly happened for me.”
