Helen O. McGhee

MILLERTON — Helen O. McGhee, 98, a lifelong Millerton resident died peacefully on June 16, 2018. at Noble Horizons. 

She previously resided with her loving daughter, Patricia Boice, in Millerton for many years. 

Mrs. McGhee worked as an assembler for General Electric in Connecticut for 25 years retiring in 1975; she then provided private residential care for 15 years at her home in Millerton.

Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Marchoki) and Peter Malarchuk. 

On Sept. 25, 1937, she married Richard D. McGhee. Mr. McGhee died Jan. 10, 1990. 

Helen was a longtime member of the Millerton Grange and she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, needle point and embroidery work. 

She had a great love for country music and was known for baking the best apples pies around.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family and her many friends.

Helen is survived by her devoted daughter, Patricia Boice; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by two children, Richard McGhee and Robert McGhee; and six siblings, Mary Nowak, Margaret Gansowski, Thomas, Alex, Peter and Stephen Malarchuk.

The funeral service was held June 20 at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, the Rev. William Mayhew officiating. Burial followed in Irondale Cemetery in Millerton.
