NORTH CANAAN — Anyone who attended a talk by Mary Ann Jacob of Everytown for Gun Safety expecting to hear impassioned calls for the confiscation of firearms or repeal of the Second Amendment was surprised.

Jacob spoke at the Bitterman Center on Thursday, May 24, to a crowd of about 100 people (who enjoyed pizza and soft drinks prior to the talk).

Jacob was working as a school librarian at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on Dec. 15, 2012, when a young man, Adam Lanza, fatally shot 20 children and six adults, before killing himself.
