Man on the Street: Bidding farewell to the Saperstein’s mural

MILLERTON — For the last 16 years, the mural painted along the side of the Saperstein’s building has been a part of the village’s identity. 

Painted by artist Moira Kelly in the summer of 2002 with help from local children, the mural is in memory of the store’s original owners, Irving and Shirley Saperstein, and also of the victims of terrorism on Sept. 11, 2001. It has endured all kinds of weather — including a graffiti incident a number of years ago.
