Dollar Store is up for sale

NORTH CANAAN — The Dollar Depot, where everything was truly “just a buck, will close Dec. 1.

Owner Brian Ohler told The Journal he planned to close the Route 7 store after two years, because it’s difficult to be an absentee manager.

Ohler travels extensively as a bodyguard for celebrities and he is a reservist who expects to be deployed to the Middle East in January.

He said he is sure the business can be successful, especially in this economy. It’s just difficult to make the extra effort needed.

Between now and the closing, everything in the remaining inventory is two for a buck.

The 6,000 square foot, commercially zoned building is listed for sale for $545,000.

Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
