Reflections of the Season (editorial): Many a bathing beauty who goes around the streets clad in very little beside her dignity and a string of beads, will call a man down hard if he dares to appear at the table without his coat, which apparently simmers the question of proper appearance down to a point of fashion. Common sense doesn’t seem to enter the situation.

A small cyclone or what might be called a “twister struck the villages of Salisbury and Lake-
ville shortly before seven o’clock on Tuesday evening, and in a very short time created havoc with the trees, power and telephone lines and caused expense running into several thousand dollars. The storm was accompanied by heavy thunder and a cyclonic wind. Not in the memory of the oldest inhabitant has there been a worse storm for a short time.

The home in Sharon that Alexandra Peters and her husband, Fred, have owned for the past 20 years feels like a mini museum. As you walk through the downstairs rooms, you’ll see dozens of examples from her needlework sampler collection. Some are simple and crude, others are sophisticated and complex. Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.
