Anne M. (Mullany) Dalone

NORTH CANAAN — Anne M. (Mullany) Dalone, 87, formerly of North Canaan died at Bridgeport Hospital on Aug. 14, 2010. She was the widow of Lester H. Dalone.

Mrs. Dalone was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Great Barrington, the daughter of the late Margaret (Darcy) and George F. Mullany.

Mrs. Dalone was an X-ray technician. She was employed at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington and retired in 1985 as the manager of radiation technology at Fairview Hospital.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan. She was a registrar of voters for the town and volunteered at the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry.

Mrs. Dalone is survived by her three daughters, Leslie and her husband, Jurij Kyrytschenko, of Stratford, Conn., Meg and her husband, Stephen Victory, of Lakeville and Teri Dalone and her companion, Philip Williams of Virginia Beach, Va.;  her grandchildren, Gregory Kyrytschenko and his wife, Tracy, Lisa Petrashka and her husband, Anthony, Michael Kyrytschenko and his wife, Alina, Darcy Victory and Kaitlyn Victory; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline and Nicholas Kyrytschenko and Alyssa and Anthony Petrashka.

Mrs. Dalone was predeceased by her two brothers, George and James Mullany.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 17 at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.

The Cornwall Library unveiled its latest art exhibition, “Live It Up!,” showcasing the work of the late West Cornwall resident Joelle Sander on Saturday, April 13. The twenty works on canvas on display were curated in partnership with the library with the help of her son, Jason Sander, from the collection of paintings she left behind to him. Clearly enamored with nature in all its seasons, Sander, who split time between her home in New York City and her country house in Litchfield County, took inspiration from the distinctive white bark trunks of the area’s many birch trees, the swirling snow of Connecticut’s wintery woods, and even the scenic view of the Audubon in Sharon. The sole painting to depict fauna is a melancholy near-abstract outline of a cow, rootless in a miasma haze of plum and Persian blue paint. Her most prominently displayed painting, “Flowers,” effectively builds up layers of paint so that her flurry of petals takes on a three-dimensional texture in their rough application, reminiscent of another Cornwall artist, Don Bracken.

A Seder to savor in Sheffield

On April 23, Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will host “Feast of Mystics,” a Passover Seder that promises to provide ecstasy for the senses.

“’The Feast of Mystics’ was a title we used for events back when I was running The New Shul,” said Rabbi Zach Fredman of his time at the independent creative community in the West Village in New York City.
