Town says no, it won’t stand with Paris

BARKHAMSTED — At a contentious special town meeting in Barkhamsted on Thursday, Sept. 21, residents rejected a citizen petition relating to the Paris Climate Accord.

The Paris Climate Accord was adopted by 196 parties representing multiple nations in December 2015. It is supposed to regulate greenhouse gas emissions as a way to mitigate global warming.

In June, President Donald Trump announced that the United States will withdraw from the agreement by November 2020.
