The sound of music …

The Smithfield Presbyterian Church was alive with organ music last Saturday, Sept. 9, thanks to a recital by New York Philharmonic organist Kent Tritle. Tritle’s performance included works by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and Alexandre Guilmant on the church’s 1893 Johnson and Son tracker organ. Since the recital was organized to benefit the Oratorio Society of New York, a suggested donation of $20 was asked at the door. Following the performance, spectators were invited to enjoy a reception in the church.
