Rose E. Heavens

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Rose E. “Little Grandma†Heavens, 106, of Chattanooga died June 7, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Tracy Heavens.

Mrs. Heavens was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Connecticut at a young age. She was a registered nurse and was a member of Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester.

She is survived by her two children, Tracy W. Heavens and his wife, Diane, and Linda Houghton and her husband, James; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in Winchester Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northside Neighborhood House, 211 Minor St., Chattanooga, TN 37405, or Faith Lutheran Church, PO Box 28318, Chattanooga, TN 37424 or to Trinity Covenant Church, 302 Hackmatack St., Manchester, CT 06040.

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. He has played with blues and rock icons including Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and many more.

Cabaret comes to St. Andrew's in Kent

Music in the Nave will again tap into local talent April 6 at 7 p.m. when its features George Potts in an intimate cabaret concert in the St. Andrew’s Church parish house.

Pott is a well-known figure in the community, both through his presence in the perennially popular Fife ‘n Drum, the restaurant started by his father-in-law, renowned pianist Dolph Trayman, and through his own career as a folk musician.
