Ten years ago, the hospitality industry in the Tri-state region was suffering. The traditional hotel model seemed to have stopped working — and this was even before the days of online share programs such as Airbnb.  Inns and hotels were closing and/or being put up for sale — and they were languishing on the market for years, with no apparent takers.
