William Henry Boults

Falls Village — William Henry Boults, 84, of Route 7 South died May 10, 2010, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan.  He was the husband of Beverly (Walp) Boults.  Mr. and Mrs. Boults were wed on July 22, 1951.  They  shared 58 years as husband and wife.  

William was born Jan. 3, 1926, in the Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Mildred (Jacob) and Harry Boults.

He worked for Connecticut Light and Power for 37 years.  Much of that time was spent at the Falls Village hydroelectric plant.  

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1947.  While in the Navy, William was a gunner assigned to the Navy Patrol Bomber Squadron.  For his service, he was awarded three air medals and other decorations.  

Back in Falls Village, he was a veteran of the Falls Village Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by his brother, Robert Boults, and his wife, Carol ,of Eliot, Maine;  a niece, Susan Boults of North Canaan; his nephews, Tim Boults of Florida and Chris Boults of Southfield, Mass.; his cousin, John Walp, and his wife, Heather, of New Britain, Pa.; and several other cousins.

Graveside services were held May 13 in Lime Rock Cemetery.    Memorial donations may be sent to either the Falls Village Fire Department or the Falls Village Volunteer Ambulance.  

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home  in North Canaan.

Bob was born Feb. 5, 1955 in Torrington, the son of the late Joesph and Elizabeth Pallone.

The Cornwall Library unveiled its latest art exhibition, “Live It Up!,” showcasing the work of the late West Cornwall resident Joelle Sander on Saturday, April 13. The twenty works on canvas on display were curated in partnership with the library with the help of her son, Jason Sander, from the collection of paintings she left behind to him. Clearly enamored with nature in all its seasons, Sander, who split time between her home in New York City and her country house in Litchfield County, took inspiration from the distinctive white bark trunks of the area’s many birch trees, the swirling snow of Connecticut’s wintery woods, and even the scenic view of the Audubon in Sharon. The sole painting to depict fauna is a melancholy near-abstract outline of a cow, rootless in a miasma haze of plum and Persian blue paint. Her most prominently displayed painting, “Flowers,” effectively builds up layers of paint so that her flurry of petals takes on a three-dimensional texture in their rough application, reminiscent of another Cornwall artist, Don Bracken.

A Seder to savor in Sheffield

On April 23, Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will host “Feast of Mystics,” a Passover Seder that promises to provide ecstasy for the senses.

“’The Feast of Mystics’ was a title we used for events back when I was running The New Shul,” said Rabbi Zach Fredman of his time at the independent creative community in the West Village in New York City.
