NORTH CANAAN — The students at North Canaan Elementary School (NCES) got to take a small break from learning on Thursday, June 8, for their annual field day.

Students from all grades were split into more than 25 teams to compete in 10 events, including the sponge relay, tennis bowling and a game called Rescue. Each team was led by a teacher or staff member and was made up of about 10 to 12 students.

All students were given bright yellow T-shirts to commemorate the day, and some sported signatures and messages from classmates written across their shoulders.
