Fire company's roast beef dinner this Saturday

AMENIA — Continuing  to think outside the box for new ways to raise funds, the Amenia Fire Company will host its first ever roast beef dinner this Saturday, April 10, at the firehouse on Mechanic Street.

The dinner will be prepared by CIA-certified and soon-to-be official member of the Amenia Fire Company Vinny Iannacone, who will be lending his expertise to preparing the roast beef, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, rolls and salad. Meanwhile, members of the fire department will be putting their own spins on dessert items.

Similar to the winter dinner event held earlier this year, profits from the dinner will go toward the company’s general expense line. Servings will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and take-outs will be available.

Tickets cost $12 for adults, while children 12 and younger,  along with seniors, will run $11. Children under 5 eat for free. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time from any fire company member or by calling 845-373-8467. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
