VFW honors female vets on Memorial Day

NORTH CANAAN — “As most of you know, it doesn’t rain in Army Land,” VFW 6851 Post Commander Kirk Harrington remarked at the beginning of North Canaan’s Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29.

The town was missing its usual holiday color, as the annual parade had been canceled on Sunday afternoon due to threats of rain. As a result, those who died while serving in the military were honored with a small ceremony at the VFW Post 6851 late Monday morning, in  the post’s newly constructed pavilion.
