Webutuck seeks comments on draft Wellness Policy

WEBUTUCK — The Webutuck school district has posted a draft Wellness Policy on its Web site in the hopes that members of the community will read the document and provide feedback to further shape it. The policy is supposed to provide direction for how the school and the community will address the wellness of students. District wellness includes everything from what the cafeteria serves to classes and extracurricular activities offered to students.

The district is also looking to put together a new Wellness Committee to make recommendations to the Board of Education (BOE) and district. Superintendent Dave Paciencia said there has already been a lot of response from parents and teachers. The committee is also open to comment from any district resident and it is looking to represent the entire community, not just those with children in school.

The draft policy and draft changes of the revised Wellness Committee can be found on the district’s Web site at webutuckschools.org, alongside instructions for posting feedback. Anyone interested in joining the Wellness Committee can reach the district office at 845-373-4104.
