NOTICE OF

 SPECIAL MEETING 

 WEBUTUCK CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 

  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Board of Education of the Webutuck Central School District (the “District”) that a special meeting of the qualified voters of said District be and the same is hereby called to be held in said District in the  high school gymnasium, 194 Haight Road, Amenia, New York on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting on the following proposition: 

 PROPOSITION 

Shall the Board of Education of the Webutuck Central School District be authorized to (1) reconstruct various District buildings and facilities, including infrastructure, playground and site work improvements, and acquire original  furnishings, equipment, machinery or apparatus required for the purpose for which such buildings and facilities are to be used,  at a maximum cost of  $8,500,000, (2) expend such sum for such purpose, (3) levy the necessary tax therefore, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in such amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education taking into account state aid; and (4) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, issue bonds and notes of the District at one time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed $8,500,000, and the levy of a tax to pay the interest on said obligations when due? 

 The proposition shall appear on the ballot labels of the voting machines and in the absentee ballots in the following abbreviated form: 

 PROPOSITION 

 Shall the Board of Education be authorized to: (1) reconstruct various District buildings and facilities, including infrastructure, playground and site work improvements, and acquire original furnishings, equipment, machinery or  apparatus required for the purpose for which such buildings and facilities are to be used, at a maximum cost of $8,500,000; and (2) providing that the cost of the project (including the interest due on any District obligations), taking into account  state aid received, be raised by a tax levy to be collected in annual installments, with District obligations to be issued in anticipation thereof? 

 The vote upon such proposition shall be by machine or absentee ballot.  The hours during which the polls shall be kept open shall be from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. prevailing time or for as long thereafter as necessary to enable qualified voters who are in the polling place at 9:00 p.m. to cast their ballots.  Any person shall be  entitled  to vote who is: (a) a citizen of the United States, (b) eighteen years of age or older and (c) a resident within the District for a period of thirty days next preceding the December 14, 2016 vote. The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law section 2018-c.  Such form may include a driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card.  Upon offer of proof of residency, the School District may also require all persons offering to vote to provide their signature, printed name and address. 

Absentee ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk at the Webutuck High School building, Haight Road, Amenia, New York on school days. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on or prior to December 13, 2016, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.  Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on December 14, 2016.  A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each business day during school hours during regular office hours, 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., prevailing time, including the day of the vote.  Any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the ballot of any person on such list, by making his challenge and reasons therefor known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls.
