Collection Offers Furniture & More

On the Trail

State Line Auctions will have the second stage of the collection of the late Edwin Duff Balken for sale at its gallery at 80 Main St. in North Canaan on Sunday, Nov. 13. The first stage was sold to an overflow audience on June 12 and included wonderful early American furniture and accessories.

This second stage is just as spectacular, with furniture from the 18th century and early 19th century that Balken collected for his homes in Pittsburgh, Pa., while serving as curator for the Carnegie Mellon Museum, and later in his retirement in the Berkshires.
