COLEBROOK — The Colebrook Congregational Church held its inaugural Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, Oct 2. in honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. “The actual feast day is Tuesday, Oct. 4, but we, like many churches, chose to celebrate the weekend before,” said Reverend Geoffrey Smith.

Residents were encouraged to bring their pets for a blessing. Pets owned by residents and animals from the mini farm at the YMCA’s Camp Jewell were blessed at the event.
