Jerome Ennis

SHARON —Jerome Ennis, 84, of New York City and Sharon died peacefully on May 11, 2009. He was the husband of Fay Ennis. They were married in 1953 in Weisbaden, Germany, while Dr. Ennis was in the Air Force.

He was born in New York City on Oct. 15, 1924, the son of Blanche (Cooper) and Morris Ennis.

A psychiatrist and psychoanalyst for more than 50 years, he loved his profession and worked until his recent illness.  He was a member of The New York Psychoanalytic Society and a faculty member of The New York Psychoanalytic Institute.

He had lived part-time in Sharon since 1971. He loved Sharon and was an enthusiastic vegetable gardener, who always had his first tomato on July 4.

A physician, grandfather, scholar and a gentleman, he was an elegant and erudite man who loved art, music and food. He had a big personality and many opinions, not always popular. From Washington Heights to the Upper East Side, he remained a direct and unpretentious person, committed to his psychoanalytic practice and to his patients, many of whom have stepped forward to tell us how he changed their lives.

Thoughtful, generous, selfless, sweet, funny and sometimes difficult, he was cherished beyond words by his wife and daughters, Susie and Betsy; his granddaughters, Emma and Sarah; and his son-in-law, Richard Olcott.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
