Benefit held for ailing musician

NEW HARTFORD — The Parrott Delaney Tavern held a benefit for musician and Niantic resident Gary Gidman on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Gidman is a founding member of the band Tirebiter, which will celebrate its 43rd anniversary this year.

In 2002 he suffered a stroke, and then in 2015 he was diagnosed with cancer that had wrapped itself around his spinal cord, leaving him permanently paralyzed.
