Elizabeth Forchette Green

WINSTED — Elizabeth Forchette Green died Aug. 26, 2007, at the New Jersey home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late George J. Green of Winsted.

Mrs. Green was born in Melrose, Mass., and graduated from Melrose High School before moving to Winsted in 1954. She retired as grants administrator for the Connecticut State Police after 22 years of service, initially working at the Canaan barracks and subsequently for the office of the state police commissioner in Hartford.

Mrs. Green is survived by her son and his wife, Jack and Dana Forchette; a daughter and her husband, Cherie Forchette and Patrick Tamminen; two stepsons and their wives, Richard and Terry Green and Rob and Sue Green; four grandchildren, Spring Forchette Eselgroth, Ethan Forchette, Christianne Forchette and Hannah Tamminen; a sister, Virginia Spanfellner; and a brother, Jarvis Burbine.

Her ashes will be buried in the family plot at Winchester Center Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to call at her home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Green’s honor to Princeton Hospice, 208 Bunn Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540.

Tuning up two passions under one roof

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
