Independence Day celebrated

BARKHAMSTED — The spirit of independence filled the streets and the air as the annual Fourth of July parade marched from Riverton to Barkhamsted on Saturday, July 4.

Taking part were Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), volunteer firefighters, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and a Barkhamsted Lighthouse Descendants Reunion for the Indigenous Native Americans that resided in areas that are now part of People’s State Forest.
