Library plans two fundraising events

FALLS VILLAGE — This summer, the D.M. Hunt Library will host two events to help raise funds to pay for essential library operations.

The sixth annual Silent Auction and Cocktail Party will take place on Sept. 8, beginning at 5 p.m. The silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Selections from the silent auction include a spa pedicure; a dog bed and matching bowl set; a 14-foot dump-truck load of cow manure (for the garden); a pre-publication copy of a book by Pulitzer Prize winning author Philip Roth.

Live auction selections include a luncheon for 10 in Bunny Williams’ conservatory with a tour of her gardens and a weekend in a private apartment located in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City.

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Words and Music, a celebration of song and story that will be held on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at Music Mountain.

Tickets are $18.  Film and television star Edward Herrmann will be one of the featured readers and music will be provided by violinist June Conti and singer Antwan Johnson. As always, the evening will end with songs and stories from The Joint Chiefs (who have performed at every Words and Music since its inception).
