Cecilia "Celia" Grimley Langlieb


SOUTHBURY — Cecilia "Celia" Grimley Langlieb, 69, died on May 23, 2007, after a courageous 10-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was the loving wife of Arthur Langlieb, whom she married in 1979.

She was the sister of Mary Ann Wilkens of Amenia.

She graduated from Brentwood College, entered the Sisters of St. Joseph order and taught in several schools in Long Island. She received a master’s degree from Manhattan College and taught theology at Monseignor Scanlan and Paramus Catholic high schools. At Paramus Catholic she became president of the teacher’s union for Bergen County Catholic schools.

She was certified by the Federation of Christian Ministries to perform weddings, funerals and prayer services for all faiths, and was a founding member and interfaith minister of The Spirit Rising Liturgical Community in New Jersey.

After 41 years of teaching, and two bouts of cancer, she retired in 2000, moving to Heritage Village in Southbury, where she joined the Heritage Village Ambulance Corp and became a Medical Response Team member. She also worked with SHARE’s ovarian cancer hotline.

Water main cleaning in North Canaan

Tuning up two passions under one roof

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance.
