Pamper yourself at Indigo Spa

MILLERTON — Residents looking for spa services need look no further than a location right off Route 44 near the state line, which is where Indigo Spa is located.

The spa, co-owned by Tanya Hills and Sage Kauffman, offers a full line of services, such as waxing, manicures, pedicures and more.

"This was all Sage’s idea," Hills said from inside the space last Friday afternoon.

Kauffman, a Salisbury, Conn., native, started off as a spa consultant in Manhattan for eight years.

"After that, she finally felt that she was ready to do it," said Hills, referring to opening her own establishment.

Hills and Kauffman decided to center their business in Millerton because it’s a "growing community" and their location allows customers from both New York and Connecticut to easily stop in for an appointment.

"It’s an area where people are concerned with health and well-being," Hills said.

"And it’s a central location," Kauffman added.

Customers who enlist the services of the spa can expect "quality and thorough work, a clean environment, great customer service" and a caring staff, the partners said.

"That’s very important for people to know," Kauffman said.

"We want to make people comfortable, relaxed and de-stressed," Hills continued.

Indigo Spa is located at 199 Route 44 East, just before the Connecticut state line.

Hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reach the spa by phone at 518-789-3330.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
