BARKHAMSTED — A Scottish Highlands music and dance concert was held at the Barkhamsted Town Garage’s community room on Saturday, March 8.

The concert was sponsored by the Beardsley and Memorial Library.

Songs were performed by Maggie Carchrie, the 1995 winner of the U.S. Gaelic Mod national contest.

She was accompanied by Thomas Leigh, who played bagpipes and hand drums.

Leigh is a graduate of the University of Scotland with a degree in the Gaelic language.

Residents packed the community room for the concert, with some members of the audience having to stand against the wall.
