Community rallies behind child center on Day of Caring

NORTH CANAAN — It was one of the hottest days of the year, but ACTEX Publications in Winsted closed its air-conditioned offices June 21 so its employees could head out for a United Way Day of Caring.

“We only have 10 employees and we all come out,” employee Denise Calkins said, “so we had no choice but to close to come here.”
