WINSTED — Three weeks of long and contentious meetings ended Monday, June 18, with the Board of Selectmen approving a revised budget of $31,505,896 for fiscal year 2012-13.
The revised budget cuts the selectmen’s original proposal by $882,881 to bring the total mill increase for the coming year to 1 mill, or $773,373.
If approved, the mill rate for the town would increase to 26.43 mills.
The budget was hammered out in response to a budget referendum on June 2 in which voters shot down the selectmen’s originally proposed budget by a vote of 1,176 to 584.
