Community gathers to honor soldiers

PINE PLAINS — The subject of Community Development Block Grants arose during the Town Board meeting on Thursday, May 17.

Town Supervisor Brian Coons explained there are roughly eight categories that can be pursued through the grant program, which is awarded by the county with grants of up to $150,000 per municipality. The money comes through the federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department.

Coons described the grant program as a “big pot of money,” adding, “our county planning department does a great job of running that.”
