AMENIA — The town of Amenia and hamlet of Wassaic may be small communities in size, but not in spirit.

During the Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 28, veterans, town officials, Scout troop members and community members gathered around Fountain Square in front of M&T Bank at the intersection of routes 44, 343 and 22 to celebrate a day of remembrance.

“We’re here today to honor the memory of our vets and to celebrate the ultimate sacrifices they made for our freedom,” said town Supervisor Bill Flood.
