RIVERTON — It was a fine day for casting lines on Saturday, April 21, when the town held its annual fishing derby. It was also opening day for fishing in the state.
More than 150 fishermen, young and old, participated in the derby, a tradition that started more than 50 years ago.
By the early morning of the event, it seemed as if there was an endless line of fishermen along the Farmington River, all searching for the day’s big catch.
