Beckley House expansion on horizon


Beckley House, a 24-unit apartment building for seniors able to live an independent lifestyle, is heading toward an expansion project.

Planners and an attorney appeared before the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting April 9 with a special permit application. It will go to a public hearing May 14, when details of the 10-unit expansion will be presented, comments collected and questions answered.

In the decade since it was built, Beckley House has had a constant waiting list that averages about 16 couple and individuals. The wait is about two years.
