Route 22 barn blaze

AMENIA — A fire erupted Friday, April 6, at approximately 12:12 p.m. at Iron Will Farm, located at 5325 Route 22. The farm is at the bottom of Haight Road, at the entrance to the North East (Webutuck) Central School District’s main campus.

The cause of the incident, according to Millerton Fire Chief Jason Watson, was a hay bale that caught fire on a piece of machinery.

“There were no animals in the barn at the time,” he said, noting that the situation could have been worse than it was.
