Devine in race for another term

AMENIA— With 12 years of experience, James Devine (R) has decided to run for another four-year term as town justice.
Devine is running uncontested. He previously served the town as a member of the Town Board.
Devine has handled various cases involving misdemeanors and civil matters. He said he has been disturbed by the number of drug arrests related to young people.
He said he considers every person who comes before him innocent until proven guilty.

Morris and Somogyi seek two spots on Town Board

AMENIA — Amenia voters will find two Town Board candidates ready to serve to the best of their abilities, for a four-year term. Both candidates are running for public office for the first time.
James Morris
Appointed as a temporary board member earlier this year, James Morris is now running for the full four-year term. Though he hasn’t served in an office position before, he said his time on the Town Board thus far has  been a learning experience.

Perotti runs for a third term

AMENIA— Having served the town of Amenia for two previous terms, current town Supervisor Victoria Perotti has decided to run for a third term in this year’s local elections.
Running on a Republican, Independent and Conservative ticket, Perotti’s qualifications as town supervisor encompass her bachelor’s degree in science and business administration along with her experience in running business offices. She believes she has gained a broad understanding of local government.

Town Justice Casey McCabe runs for third term

NORTH EAST — With this year’s local elections just around the corner, current Town Justice Casey McCabe (D) has decided to run for her third term in office.
A local resident since 2008, McCabe was first elected into the position in January 2010 and has enjoyed her responsibilities ever since. Seeing how the job allows her to work both at night and as needed, she appreciates the convenient balance the position provides between her legal education and her availability as a mother.

Four candidates vie for North East Town Board

NORTH EAST— With local elections just around the corner, registered voters in the town of North East and village of Millerton will have the opportunity to choose two out of four candidates for Town Board on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
All terms are four years as a result of a referendum. In addition to the two available seats on the Town Board, a Town Justice position is up for election.
